How many employees does Privila have?
Privila is comprised of a diverse group of full-time and part-time professionals. At this juncture we have fewer than 50 employees, a close knit team of dedicated professionals.
What does Privila do?
Privila develops websites with a focus on improving information found on the Internet for the end users through:Each Privila team member and internship participant has direct involvement in the success of this objective.

Internships
Offices
Which offices have on-site internship openings?
Currently there are internship openings only in Schaumburg IL. Positions may open in other locations in the future as the company continues to grow.
Does an applicant have to move to Chicago to apply?
NO. Privila offers on-site and telecommuting internships. Candidates may qual ify for a telecommuting internship. Take a look at the requirements.
How does an intern find the Schaumburg office using public transport?
From downtown Chicago, we suggest using the Chicago loop or “L” as the locals refer to it. Connect with the Pace Bus system, which will bring you near our office.
Commitment
How many hours is an intern required to work? How many weeks?
All internship participants are required to submit a minimum of 5 articles per week for 15 weeks. A Privila intern dedicates no less than 10 hours a week to the internship. Students seeking college credit may need to follow additional requirements their college has established.
What are the duties of a Journalist Intern?
Journalist Interns will be assigned to write articles for specific special interest websites.
What are the duties of a Graphics Design Intern?
Graphics Design Interns will assist with day to day projects and assignments provided by our full time staff. Such projects include applying creative ingenuity with unique graphic images for key websites, while others include working with the individual graphics on a special interest website.
Where are the computers?
On-site Privila journalist interns will be utilizing company laptops to carryout daily assignments. Privila software engineers and graphics designers will be assigned individual company desktop computers in order to work with design and development software.
Are the internships paid?
Privila internships come with perks such as complimentary lunches, snacks and beverages. The office environment is a coffee shop atmosphere, dress code is casual and a built-in speaker system plays music to compliment your creativity. The internship however, is not paid.

How does someone apply for an internship?

Does an applicant have to be enrolled in college to apply?
No. We accept applications from students currently enrolled in higher education (bachelors, masters and doctorate), recent graduates and working professionals. If you are passionate about writing and seeking to gain magazine-style experience, we encourage you to apply.

We will carefully review your application and if your qualifications are fit for the internship, we will contact you for phase 2 of the application process. Please make sure to add internships[at]privila.com to your email safe list before submitting your application. We will be communicating with you primarily via email.
Internship Credits
ACADEMIC CREDITS*
How does the internship coordinate with college?
We will work directly with the student, their advisor and their academic institute to understand the academic requirements so the student may receive college credit. Privila offers both in-house and telecommuting internship for academic credit. After a student completes the 2-step application (Phase 1-application/ Phase 2-sample article), there is an interview where we have the opportunity to discuss the internship and academic credit into further detail.
In our previous experience some academic requirements have included: certain hour requirements based on number of credits student selects to receive, article requirements, academic supplied approval forms, Privila staff interviews by student, faculty on-site visits, student evaluations and any other materials required of their college.

*Students do not need to seek academic credit to apply. If for any reason, a candidate chooses to not pursue academic credit, they will still be considered for a Privila internship. Privila is an EEO.

The relationship Privila has with the above colleges is strictly via student involvement in the Privila Internship Program. RESUME/PORTFOLIO
Can an intern list Privila on their resume?
Yes. We encourage interns who have successfully completed the internship in good standing, to include the Privila internship on their resume as work experience.
What about using clips for a portfolio?
Articles an intern creates for Privila remain copyrights of Privila.
That being said… Interns are welcome to use Privila articles they have written as clips to include in their portfolio of work to show future employers. It is one of the many purposes of the internship, for interns to build a portfolio of work while gaining writing experience. Interns are not allowed to republish the articles electronically, ever. This includes on a personal webpage. We advise interns to list the urls of the websites they write for on their personal webpage. Potential employers, after viewing a candidates resume, then may visit the Privila published article on the Privila website it was published on.
Are there bylines for the articles interns write?
Yes. When an intern writes a Privila article, they are listed as the author on the corresponding webpage the article is published on.
EMPLOYMENT
After the internship, can an intern gain employment with Privila?
The possibility is always there. Privila is an EEO and encourages all qualified applicants to apply for any open positions with the company. If there is not an open position at the time a candidate applies, we will keep their resume on file. Internships are a great way to gain skills in the industry and get to know an organization! Privila staff members include both persons who have not participated in the internship program and persons who have successfully completed the internship program prior to employment.
Can an intern request a recommendation letter from Privila?
Privila internship participants who complete the program in good standing are invited to request recommendation letters which they may provide to future employers. It is an opportunity for the Privila team to inform a potential employer of the interns attributes as a writer based on the time they participated in the internship program. The Privila team would look forward to assisting any successful intern with their future goals and next steps in their career.
